British chef Jamie Oliver cooks up a veggie delight to celebrate London’s famous Brick Lane

British chef and TV star Jamie Oliver cooked up a tribute to multicultural London at the ‘Live for the City’ Evoque Experience.
In front of an audience at the Old Truman Brewery, Shoreditch, Jamie put together the ultimate veggie burger as a touching tribute to Brick Lane and its impact on London.
Jamie began with a journey around the East End of London in the new Range Rover Evoque to find the very best ingredients the area had to offer.
He started with vegetables from the Albion all-day café, bar and grocery store, before heading to his restaurant Fifteen to collect some mango chutney.
Next step was to head back to Brick Lane through the long-abandoned Bishopgate Goods Yard, where the new Evoque came into its own. Jamie tackled disused railway tracks, ramps and even a swimming pool before emerging in the grey light of autumnal London.
On the home stretch, Jamie picked up spices from grocery Taj Stores and bread rolls from Jewish bakery Beigel Bake on Brick Lane.
Jamie loads his Indian-inspired Bhaji Burger with fresh, crisp vegetables that work beautifully with the spices, and bhaji mix in a white roll with crushed poppadoms. Sweet mango chutney and cooling coriander yoghurt finish things off.
It was a fitting tribute to Brick Lane and its thriving Bangladeshi community that has created the famous curry capital of the UK – a perfect example of how multi-culturalism and London go hand-in-hand.
